A cannabis plants trichome development timeline varies from strain to strain, and when trichomes appear doesn’t follow a set production ripeness chart or timeline. Autoflowers and photoperiod strains also start trichome at different stages. When marijuana trichome production starts it can take several weeks to change from clear, cloudy and amber.
When Do Cannabis Plants Begin Producing Trichomes?
It takes 3-4 weeks in to the flowering stage for trichome development to start. Early trichomes will appear transparent, and as the cannabis plant matures these will gradually turn a milky or non-translucent color. Trichomes can take a further 1-3 weeks to start turning amber, indicating optimal harvest time.
